Hi, I’m Jess I’m 25 and I’m from Leeds, England. I graduated from the University of Reading in 2015 with a degree in Human Geography and on September 25th 2015 I began a new chapter of my life by moving to Dubai to become cabin crew with Emirates Airline.
I started this blog so family, friends and whoever else can see how my journey is going and where on earth I am in the world. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me by leaving a comment or sending me a message on my other social media accounts. I hope you enjoy reading,

I just submitted an online application and went to one of the open days in London, from there I worked through the recruitment process and got my golden call in July 2015. It wasn’t easy but it wasn’t awful 🙂

Ah that’s disappointing, try other airlines as I know not all have the same height restrictions!

Hi Jessica, I am 4cm off from their height requirements, should I bother attending an open day assessment day?

If you’re under the height requirements you wouldn’t get the job as you have to be able to reach the emergency equipment etc!

Hi!! I have a question… they say that you can bring when you join 50kgs baggage, but how many bags/suitcases did you take with you?? And apart from the 50Kgs, is it possible to have cabin luggage?? thank you!!!
LikeLike
You can have two suitcases weighing 50kg plus hand luggage! I had just the two cases as my family were visiting 6 weeks later and brought another case for me then. Some people were charged for going over, others were let off, depends on the airport!

Hello Jessica! Congrats for your blog! I am shortsighted but I use contact lenses! Are there any vision restrictions for emirates?
LikeLike
I’m unsure as I have 20/20 vision. There are crew wearing glasses however there’ll be more information on the website about that!

This was my application process. Emirates aren’t hiring currently but when they do I’m sure recruitment will be very very different as mine was over 2 and a half years ago now!

Have you thought of a YouTube channel? It would be nice. Greetings from Colombia.

Hi Maria,
I don’t know good I would be at a YouTube channel! I’ve just bought a GoPro though and I’m going to try and do a vlog of my holiday coming up. So I’ll see how that goes! But thank you for the suggestion!

Hi Jessica!
I have a question regarding scars. I have a 1 cm stitch scar above my eyebrow. I have already done laser treatment, but because it is deep, it is still very visible under make up.
I know that scar is a case by case issue and it really depends on each recruiter, but have you flown with crews with visible scars on their faces? Do you think scars are a big issue?
Thank you!

Hi Wen,
To be completely honest with you I have no idea when it comes to things like this. You’d be best to email Emirates with pictures etc. Hope you get the answer you’re looking for!
