After being given a whole month of can-use reserve for August, I was so eager to get my September roster and hopefully see some flights and what a pleasant surprise it was. In September I shall be heading to…
JED – Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Turn Around
KHI – Karachi, Pakistan Turn Around
KHI – Karachi, Pakistan Turn Around
NRT – Tokyo, Japan Layover
EBB – Entebbe, Uganda Turn Around
Kicking off the month with three turn arounds, and the Jeddah is also on the A380 which I haven’t flown on since the beginning of March which is crazy to believe! These are spread across five days which seriously feels like a bit of normality. It’s going to be a shock to the system for sure (providing they all go ahead as flight cancellations/changes are very frequent at the moment) but I can’t wait to have some form of a normal week.
After this is a layover in Tokyo. I’ve been to Tokyo once before but I flew into Haneda rather than Narita. At the present time, we’re still not allowed to leave hotels on layovers which is so upsetting but understandable regarding the current global situation. I’m hoping that this might change come mid September but I’m not going to hold my breath. At least I’ll be able to eat an abundance of sushi in the hotel room!
And ending the month is a turn around to Entebbe. We usually layover here and its a layover that I really love and enjoy. Usually an easy four hours each way, with a gorgeous hotel stay by Lake Victoria and plenty to see/do and great food to be eaten. Except this will be turn around flight, so quite a long day to Uganda and back but some good hours to add into the mix.
I also have a few blocks of can-use reserve thrown in there so I could be pulled out for something else potentially and that wraps up September. I really really hope things keep getting better so that I’m back to travelling the world soon enough. At the moment for my whole month of August which was can-use I’ve been given a flight to Sialkot in Pakistan where we had no passengers in business class so I helped out in economy and then a very long turn around to Manila, Philippines where we took an empty aircraft there and returned with some passengers. It was my first flight with passengers after 164 days which is SO crazy to believe!

Thank you, it’s a very different flying experience for everyone that’s for sure but at least we’re starting to turn back to some form of normality!
