Magical Mauritius

ย A morning departure out of Dubai and it was a lovely six and a half hours over to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius. It had been well over two years since I was last in Mauritius, and I didnโ€™t have that much of a great experience. So after checking the weather forecast, I was pleasantly surprised to see glorious skies for my time there.

Landing just before 5pm, we made our way across to the gorgeous beachside resort and arranged to meet for some poolside drinks before having a crew dinner.

Arriving in time for sunset!

With most people wanting to relax and not even leave the hotel on these kinds of layovers, it means you get a good turn out of people out to socialise!

Food and drinks were lovely and we spent the evening chatting away, and around 23:30 I called it a night as I started to feel I was getting bitten to death.

I planned to wake at 9am the next morning and grab breakfast before spending the morning on the beach studying for my annual exams. However the snooze button was just far too tempting after a busy few days at home before this trip, and I snoozed til lunchtime before dragging myself out of bed to this amazing view.

I quickly threw on my bikini and grabbed my sunglasses and one of the crew Josรฉ had text me to say he was sunbathing if I wanted to join him. We sat and sunbathed for an hour or so, before we met a couple of others for lunch. It had been a while since Iโ€™d eaten at this point and Iย  was feeling very hungry!

At lunch the captain mentioned he was going to take a boat out if I wanted to join him and I jumped at the chance as I love being active on holiday rather than just laying out in the sunshine.

It was a small Hobie Catsy boat which had no motor, we used the wind and the sail to move us around the shoreline. He taught me how to sail and we took it in turns holding the rudder and tightening the mast. I guess you could call me Captain Jess now, huh?

The waters was so incredibly blue, paired with the contrasting blue sky and a gorgeous sunny day. I could have just laid on this boat drifting around the waters. This is what you called absolute paradise.

After around 45 minutes of sailing we went back to shore and I laid out a little longer doing some more studying before I got ready for the night flight back to Dubai.

A very mellow and relaxing trip, but it was so nice to finally see what Mauritius has to offer. Itโ€™s a brilliant holiday destination that I highly recommend for all kinds of holiday goers. If you want to just lay out and take in the view and sip cocktails on the beach? Mauritius has it. Or whether youโ€™re an active holiday goer, thereโ€™s water sports, hiking and other activities all on offer. Or if youโ€™re like me, you can do a bit of both! How could you say no to this piece of perfection?!
