My second flight of my reserve month and it was to London Heathrow, not Manchester for a visit to home, but kind of my second home in the UK. My Auntie, Uncle and little cousins live here and also the majority of my university friends, so always happy to see this on my roster. I was on 9pm – 5am home standby, and before my standby had even started I saw LHR on my roster so I started packing and planning my 24 hours in the UK capital.
We departed Dubai at 2:30am landing into London Heathrow at 7:05am. It was a lovely flight on the way over, not a completely full load and with it being a night flight the majority of passengers slept before waking up for breakfast. A very pleasant UK flight! For anyone who’s from the UK, or listened to UK boybands from the noughties, I was sat across from Kenzie from Blazin Squad for take off and landing. Such a lovely guy and we were chatting away!
We landed and headed over to the hotel to check in and I went straight to bed for 3 hours so that I could spend the rest of the day in London. In my allowance this time I even managed to get a brand new ยฃ5 note… not that exciting for anyone not from the UK but it impressed me haha.

Waking up still incredibly tired, I resisted the urge to turn off my alarm and got dressed and took the tube into the centre. I was going over to my families home in South London as I’d not seen them since the end of July and my little cousins are growing up and changing so much. I had a couple of errands to run in London first that ate into my time, so I actually only got a couple of hours with them after the kids got back from their after school clubs.
Arriving at my auntie and uncles home I got straight inside for a cup of tea to warm up from the cold (all I’ve been doing is saying that I can’t wait for the cold, but I’m definitely acclimatised to Dubai now) and had cuddles with my cousins and as always french plaited their hair as thats what they love about cousin Jess. It was such a short visit that I didn’t even take any pictures before I had to make my way back over to London Bridge to meet my uni friends for dinner!
We met at a place called Mug House and three of my friends I hadn’t seen since I moved to Dubai, so it was so great to catch up and see them, definitely didn’t feel like we hadn’t seen each other in over a year though!
After a few hours of good food, drinks and company it was time to make the journey back over to Heathrow which would take me over an hour so that I could finally crawl into bed for 6 hours of sleep before my wake up call at 5:55am. The flight back was great, and landing into Dubai at 7pm was really nice, felt like I had a normal job for once!
A lovely spontaneous trip which came together surprisingly well planning the night before hand. Not incredibly exciting, but thats what UK flights are like for me, but thought I would write a blog post to keep you updated on my reserve as I’ve only had 2 flights in 13 days!

Hi
Jessica I’ve read your whole blog and it’s help me decide to go to the open day in Manchester or London in the next couple of weeks. Do you have a tips or suggestions to get picked? I’m from Manchester myself and have been wanting to do this for a while but with all the different views on the company I was unsure, thanks for sharing you journey and helping me decide ๐. Xx

Style yourself like crew. Hair in a low bun, red lipstick, red nails, heels with the sheer tights. Tailor your cv to the role of crew. Always be smiling and stay off your phone! Good luck, hopefully see you on board xx
