The June roster has been published and next month I’ll be going to…
Annual Leave
HKG – Hong Kong Layover
MAN – Manchester, UK Layover
MED – Medina, Saudi Arabia Turn Around
HKG – Hong Kong Layover
SYD – Sydney, Australia Layover
So at the beginning of the month I am on leave for 5 days as my friends from home are coming to visit which I am super excited about! I can’t wait to show them Dubai and just spend this time with them. It is going to be a busy few days for me between May and June as I’m also moving into a new apartment with two of my friends so its all go go go at the moment. I also think there may be a fault on the rostering system that says I am a resident of Hong Kong as they just keep sending me there haha. I’m hoping to swap both the Hong Kong’s for something different as I want to see as many new destinations as possible rather than repeat, and I’ve already done Hong Kong 3 times! I have finally been given a Manchester without having to swap onto it which is great, 24 hours at home is always lovely even if it does go ridiculously fast. Only one turn around for me which is nice, as I usually get two AND I’M FINALLY GOING TO SYDNEY! I have bid for Sydney every single month and I have never gotten it until now which I am so excited about. My best friend who I studied in America with lives there and we’re finally going to be reunited after 18 months apart – so long! And I’ve wanted to visit Sydney for such a long time so I’m incredibly looking forward to this trip, see you soon Sophie!
Not many flights this month either, I’m unsure why. I also have 5 days off in a row in the middle of the month so I’ll go and visit home for those to see everyone. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with my roster as long as I can swap my Hong Kong flights…

Hi Jessica, I have a really bizarre question about becoming EK cabin crew.
I have read that it is a visa requirement to provide birth certificates of your parents, however what if this isn’t possible and you are adopted? Could this perhaps hinder my chances of getting a job with Emirates, or would they find a way to get around it? I’m just wondering if you have head of any crew with the same dilemma.
Hope you are having a great time ๐

You don’t have to give your parents birth certificates at any point during your time with Emirates! So nothing to worry about at all honey! Having a wonderful time, hopefully see you out here soon! Jess x

Hi Jess! Marlon here!
I have a friend, Daniel, as Emirates Cabin Crew and he has tried to persuad me to join for the last 3 years. I finally gave in when I graduate in Dec (my 3rd degree, I’m so done with Uni) I want to join. Should I start applying now? Would my undergrad degree in Language and Culture and MA in Linguistics help my application in anyway? I so badly want this now after ready your blog, you are an great writer. I’m South African, lived and studied abroad in many countries and the travel bug hasnt left me. Thank you for sharing your experience. Warm regards,

Hey Marlon, most definitely join its the best decision I ever made!! The fact you have 3 degrees will definitely work in your advantage as they loved the fact I had a degree and asked lots about it. The job also reminds me a lot of being at uni but you get paid to do it rather than paying to be there. If you have the travel bug it is definitely the job for you, I don’t think you’d regret it. And even so, what’s another year out of your life for something like this? I hope you make the right decision!!
