My latest trip was to Birmingham in the UK. Close to home, but not close enough to actually visit home, so I made them come and visit me instead! We left Dubai on the afternoon flight and landed into Birmingham around 8pm on the Saturday evening. I headed to the hotel to meet my friend and get changed and then went into the city centre for something to eat. We went to Chaophraya a Thai Restaurant by the Bull Ring and I was even able to get Mango Sticky Rice for pudding!
The next day we woke relatively early and I headed into the city centre to go and meet my little sister who was getting the train to Birmingham. Behind our hotel was a little lake and it was a nice walk over to the train station in the crisp spring air.
We met in the train station and headed straight for the shopping centre, not after calling for a much needed vanilla latte from Starbucks! We shopped for a couple of hours whilst chatting away and catching up before we jumped in a taxi and headed to meet our Mum and Dad for Sunday Lunch at a gastro pub one of my friends had recommended.
I’d really recommend this pub for Sunday Lunch as the food was amazing with such a nice decor and they even bring out more roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings if you want them! And who doesn’t want more Yorkshire puddings?!
It was so lovely to see my family and have a yummy Sunday lunch, something I really miss when I’m in Dubai! They then dropped me back at the hotel and we said our goodbyes before I tried to have a sleep before the night flight back to Dubai. It was such a perfect layover and I just wish I could do it all over again!
My next trip is to Johannesburg early on Thursday morning which I’m really looking forward to as it will be my first time to Africa and I have lots of things that I want to do there! Another short and simple post but being from the UK there’s not actually very much to do there when I visit, so sorry about that.

Hi Jessica I was just wondering if you could tell me about Emirates crew uniform I’ve noticed on some photographs that crew are wearing trousers, is that an option or is that just under personal circumstances. I’m thinking of applying when I turn 21 and would just like as much information as possible about the Emirates
Kind regards
Hannah

Hi Hannah, trousers are a choice when you become a purser or if for a medical reason you may be given a period of time to wear the trousers. Otherwise it will be the skirt! Good luck!
