My Emirates Timeline

I see a lot of these online and people are really interested in them, at first I had absolutely zero idea what all the abbreviations were and had no idea about them until I had actually been told I’d got the job, so I will begin with where it all started for me. So I first began submitting my online application 22/04/15 however, I actually began the online process 17/04/15. Then…

OD: 30/04/15
AD: 08/06/15
FI: 12/06/15
GC: 05/07/15

For those who don’t know what the abbreviations mean (OD = Open Day, AD = Assessment Day, FI = Final Interview and GC = Golden Call). The reason for the big gap between my OD and AD was that when they originally wanted me to come in it was my final exam at university which I obviously could not miss, therefore I had to wait until the next month for the assessment day! I attended all this in London as it was closest to me when studying at the University of Reading. So when I received my golden call they informed me that my joining date would be September 25th 2015.

I hope all this is helpful for you, and if you have any questions just leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you.

Hey Ashleigh! So to be able to work for Emirates you gotta be 21, so you can apply age 20, but more towards 21 than 20! So as long as you turn 21 by the time of your DOJ you should be fine! I would send off an application January time and that should be fine? They can always postpone your DOJ for when you turn 21! Good luck with your application!! X

    Hi Jessica,
I love your blog and enjoy reading all about being an Emirates flight attendant, as it is my dream job! I was just wondering if they look for anything extra during the application process, like do you speak any other languages? I also lived in Dubai for four years when I was in high school and I was wondering if you think that that is something that Emirates would consider a plus? Thanks 🙂

Hey Shelby, speaking an extra language isn’t compulsory its just an added bonus. I only speak English myself! They love if you have lived/worked/studied outside of your home country and also a uni grad. They were v interested in my uni experience. Dubai living will be an added bonus for you I feel yes. Good luck!

Hi Anjitha, it’s Matte Ruby Woo by Mac however I find it to be so dry and it makes your lips look like they’re peeling during the flight so now I use Heartbreaker by Huda Beauty and it’s much more nourishing and lasts so so long! ☺️
